More Than $5,000 to ‘Charity of the Year,’ WNY Heroes
Western New York Federal Credit Union was proud to present local organization, WNY Heroes with a check for $5,350 as a result of staff, board, and member fundraising throughout the past year.
Each year, WNY FCU chooses a Charity of the Year to support through internal fundraising efforts. The board of directors, staff, and members host a variety of events and activities to raise money including a basket raffle, bake sale, split club and selling tickets to staff for “jeans days” on Fridays. Through WNY Heroes, the Credit Union board and staff also fulfilled a wish list of a veteran family for the holiday season.
Most notably, WNY FCU hosted a gift card board raffle at the start of the year. Staff members contributed at least a $25 gift card each and many local businesses also donated gift cards, valuing the board at over $750! WNY FCU sold tickets to this raffle for about three months, raising more than $2,000.
“It was truly our honor and pleasure to raise money for such a wonderful organization that is helping veterans right here in Western New York that fought for all of us here at home,” reflects Marie Betti, CEO.
WNY Heroes provides veterans, members of the armed services, and the dependents of deceased veterans with access to essential services, financial assistance, and resources that support their lives and sustain their dignity. More information available at wnyheroes.org.
